Transparent & Merit-Based Recruitment
The Government of India discontinued interviews for recruitment to Group 'C', Group 'B' (Non-Gazetted) and equivalent posts from January 2016, promoting a more transparent and objective recruitment process.
The initiative has reduced bias and favouritism while easing hardships faced by candidates. Today, 24 States and 8 Union Territories have also adopted this reform for recruitment to lower posts.

"Our intention is clear that there will be no talks with Pakistan henceforth. If there are any talks at all, they will only be regarding PoK, which is a part of India that Pakistan has illegally occupied..."
The Lieutenant Governor also urged young participants to take three important pledges. He asked the youth to make reading a daily habit, adopt environmental conservation in everyday life, and transform the spirit of the marathon into a lifelong commitment to bring positive change in the society.
Chaired a high-level meeting with Camp Directors and senior officers to review the ongoing repair and restoration work along the Shri Amarnathji Yatra tracks in the wake of the recent heavy rainfall. Directed executing agencies and officials to expedite restoration, prioritise vulnerable zones prone to mudslides and shooting stones, strengthen Mountain Rescue Teams, proactively share real-time weather updates, and ensure essential amenities and services remain fully operational.
Today at the banks of Dal Lake, flagged-off the Reading Marathon, a unique celebration of knowledge, fitness, and responsibility towards nature. Thousands of young readers and runners from colleges & universities of Jammu Kashmir joined this inspiring event organised by National Book Trust as part of Chinar Book Festival.
The Reading Marathon, part of Education Week, marks six successful years of the National Education Policy. It shows that education must go beyond classrooms. With the motto “Run for a Green Future”, the reading marathon reminds us that just as knowledge requires discipline, protecting the mother nature demands sustained effort. I urge every participant to take three resolutions- Make reading a daily habit, dedicate themselves to environmental conservation and commit to bringing positive change in the society.

Laid the foundation of the comprehensive upgradation and beautification of the historic Old Town Leh, today, marking a new chapter in transforming the living heart of Ladakh's vibrant culture & rich heritage.
Just two days after assuming charge as LG, i.e. on 15 March, I walked these historic lanes to experience the ground realities firsthand. The upgradation of the Old Town Leh, conceived thereafter, envisages creating modern urban infrastructure while keeping the historical and cultural identity of the Old Town, intact.
