This weekend is supposed to be the best timing for Momijigari (maple leaf hunting) in some areas in Japan. Nature lovers visit mountains, parks, temples and gardens to admire colourful autumn leaves. This tradition apparently started as early as the 8th century!
Today is Jugoya (十五夜)in Japan. It's the night of August 15th of the lunar calendar and the moon is expected to be most beautiful. Traditionally people gaze at the moon and display rice cakes and pampas grass as offerings to the moon.
