My article today in @dawn_com :
Pakistan’s path to economic revival hinges on effective policy implementation, robust leadership, and private sector innovation.

Egypt borrowed $100 million from the UAE to purchase $500 million worth of wheat from the UAE, wheat that was originally grown in Egypt. A striking example of neoliberal economics 😑
Raza Bhai,
We should recognise both the historical contribution of Muslims from the minority provinces and the political logic of Pakistan’s creation.
Muslims in minority provinces played an enormously important role in building the Muslim League and mobilising support for a separate political identity. But Pakistan could not have been created territorially out of those provinces. The demand for a sovereign Muslim state necessarily depended on the Muslim-majority regions that were to constitute it.
That territorial idea took concrete political form in the 1940 Lahore Resolution, which called for the Muslim-majority areas of north-western and eastern India to be grouped into independent states, with their constituent units autonomous and sovereign. In 1943, the Sindh Legislative Assembly became the first provincial legislature to formally demand Pakistan.
So this is not about diminishing anyone’s contribution. Muslims across India helped build the movement. But historically, Pakistan as a federation could only come into existence through the political consent and territorial participation of its Muslim-majority constituent regions.
That distinction matters greatly when we discuss restructuring that federation today.

@YousufNazar@MiftahIsmail If eloquence alone qualified someone for high office, then Ahsan Iqbal would make an even stronger candidate. Leadership is ultimately measured not by the quality of one’s arguments, but by the ability to translate them into outcomes.
"We need to solve the problem in AJK with a relevant and local solution - otherwise it can become a bigger crisis"
"Ok, divide it to solve this issue"
"AJK sir?"
"No, every other province"
Pakistan is so "trouble-free" that our rulers are literally DYING of boredom! So what does PM Shehbaz Sharif do? Forms a 7-member committee to decide seating arrangements at government functions to ensure that ministers and MPs look like they’re dominating the room like feudal lords. Status over substance. Brahmanic hierarchy still runs deeper than the Indus.
@Masoodlohar@BBhuttoZardari Masood Sb, this is quite low coming from you. A solemn expression isn’t a measure of character, and the ruling elite don’t deserve this kind of romanticizing.
@x0x0lic Natural Gas: Sindh retains the dominant position with 61 percent share, followed by Balochistan with 21 percent share, KP with 15 percent share, and Punjab with 3 percent share.
@x0x0lic Pakistan Oil & Gas production province-wise
Crude Oil: KP leads the nation with 42 percent share, followed closely by Sindh with 39 percent share, Punjab with 18 percent share, and Balochistan with 1 percent share.
@ShahnaseebB Yes, it’s brutal, and in some places it’s as hot as Lahore. Europe isn’t built for this, so it feels worse. but this extreme weather usually last only a few weeks or hardly a month!

3. Growth targets look broadly reasonable:
A. Services: 4.2%
B. Agriculture: 3.8%
C. Manufacturing: 4.0%
D. Inflation target of 8.2% looks optimistic
E. Investment target of 15% looks ambitious
