Yesterday was National Day Action Against Islamophobia, @nccm brought 100+ community leaders from accross Canada to meet MPs. Doctors and lawyers, Imans and business owners. They came to tell us of growing Islamophobia and disappointment with Canada's actions on Palestine.

Today is the seventh anniversary of the Quebec City mosque shooting where six worshippers were gunned down and 19 injured.

A night thay changed this country. A night that changed this community. A night that forever altered how we see our place in #Canada.

It is because we honour their memory and their legacy that we have decided to cancel our meeting with PM Justin Trudeau as part of NCCM's national Advocacy Day today, focused on combating systemic #Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism.

Enough is enough. We have waited long enough for empty promises to fulfill themselves, from an effective online harms bill, to intervention on Quebec's Bill 21, to the affirmation of Palestinian human rights.

We either believe in human rights, or we don’t.

This is why, in consultation with leadership from coast to coast, we made this decision.
