Resolutions or making positive changes in one's life can be made any time!
"A calm heart.
A clear mind.
A peaceful soul.
And love, lots of love." ~ Why wait?
Procrastination is the world’s worst disease.
How you can actually stick to your goals:
Stop Waiting For a Perfect Plan
“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.” - Mike Tyson.
All of my big plans have changed along the way.
Just move. Stay flexible. And make continuous adjustments.
You never know what life will throw at you.
Expect change.
Write ‘em Down & Review
Initially, don’t worry about having the right goals.
Just write them down and move towards them.
There is real magic when you put the future down on paper & out of your head.
Make your weekly review process goal #1, not the goals.
Optimize along the way.
Prioritize Passion
If you set a goal and find it’s not inspiring to you along the way…
Change it.
Goals only pull you forward when you’re excited about them.
The more exciting the better.
Have a mix of big and small goals to maximize engagement w/o too much challenge.
Start w/ a Basic Framework
You have 3 buckets:
• Family/Friends
• Personal
• Career
Focus on a max of two goals per bucket.
• A stretch SMART goal
• A process goal too
Process goals help achieve your stretch goal.
If you want to write a book (stretch), start writing for one hour daily (process).
Focus On Balance
We constantly pile more onto our lives.
The result? A one-way ticket to burnout.
Give yourself a breather.
Limit yourself to one new:
• Habit per quarter
• Primary (must achieve) goal per month
I’ve found it to be the best way to ensure sustainable progress.
Manage Your Time
Do a full time audit.
You spend more time than you think:
• Contemplating doing work
• In bed thinking about waking up
• Scrolling through your IG feed
Then, time-block non-negotiable habits on your calendar.
Sticking to your calendar becomes your highest leverage activity.
Stay Accountable
If you want to fail, just wing it.
Otherwise, enforce accountability:
• Write your accomplishments daily (1 min max)
• Review weekly (what worked and what didn't)
• Link up with an accountability buddy
Fortify your goals against procrastination.
Emphasize Foundational Processes
Build confidence by nailing your foundations.
Do these every day:
• Wake up before 7 am
• Write/read for 30 min
• Work out for an hour
This simple stuff done repetitively goes a long way.
Show Some Love
There is unbelievable power in warmth & kindness.
You’re going to fail when it comes to your goals.
That’s alright. It’s expected.
Focus on the process and remember to:
• Block out time each day for gratitude & self-affirmations
• Forgive your mistakes & evaluate your efforts
Self Self-warmth will keep you engaged.
