#AskingAutistics was created in 2017 by Autistic Twitter so that non-autistics who needed to ask questions could, without infringing on autistics using #ActuallyAutistic to connect with other autistics.
#ActuallyAutistic: Autistic connection
#AskingAutistics: Anyone w a question
#AskingAutistics@AskingAutistics Do other people find that it kind of hurts/becomes uncomfortable to wear earrings beyond a certain point (unsure exactly how many, but X number of hours), or is this just my own personal cross to bear?
#AskingAutistics I see a lot of food sensitivity/ aversions, but is anyone else sensory seeking when it comes to food? I love flavored vinegar , hot sauces , pickles , kimchi, garlic, onions, and when I was a kid I would suck lemons and limes dry. Actually I still do lol
#AskingAutistics Have your sensory issues got worse with age? There are a lot of things I can't tolerate at age 40 that I coped with in my 20s. Is this a natural part of ageing as an #autistic person?
CW: mentions suicide
Does anyone else feel so intensely that even online friends can trigger suicidal thoughts?
People try to diminish the impact of online relationships and I think it is detrimental to so many of us that trust these ppl wholeheartedly.
#AskingAutistics#abuse
Did anyone else who didn't discover their neurodivergence until later feel that the ableism they experienced before was due to personal failure, rather than discrimination?

Hey everyone! CC here, and instead of a book update, I'm passing on a question from one of our contributors: #AskingAutistics What advice would you give a teen who is currently stuck in ABA (for legal or custody or other reasons), to come out of it as untraumatized as possible?
Can we talk about how we experience our bodies and how we talk about it? Given our senses are extraordinary, alexithymia aside, I'm thinking I'm not the only one to have difficulties getting doctors etc. to follow along. How do you cut thru their assumptions?
#AskingAutistics
#AskingADHD#AskingAutistics any other #Neurodivergent people notice certain things are “better/worse” when they don’t get enough sleep? For instance: if I don’t get enough sleep (like today), that is almost a guaranteed nonverbal day for me.

People with sensory issues, how are you actively making your life more sensory friendly? As adults, we can basically do whatever the hell we want so wondering what that looks like for us!
Is it common for people on the spectrum or having ADHD to have an immense anxiety in terms of picking up or making phone calls? I am supposed to be making some important calls and I am very hesitant for whatever reason and have not made the calls. #AskingAutistics#askadhd
