i’ve noticed this too with AI coding tools
they can be surprisingly good at generating code but still make weird decisions when working inside an existing codebase
especially when the project has its own patterns and conventions

I tried Codex and I don't understand the hype. It's slow and takes odd choices.
- before doing anything it first runs format and lint for no reason.
- Moving a class to a new file removes all comments.
Is it just bad at @dart_lang?

Thinking about building a “hedge” SaaS against AI. I’ll continue building in the AI space but at the same time build a super boring app that has nothing to do with AI, has non-tech users, as a hedge against AI eating everything at the cutting edge.

indie devs, if you’re about to design your app, don’t open Figma yet.

do this first:

1. define your main user
2. define the one problem you’re solving
3. write the core user journey
4. turn it into a simple user flow
5. make low-fi wireframes
6. create a clickable prototype
7. then start the actual UI design

you don’t need 50 screens.

you need one clear path that takes a user from “i need this” to “this solved it.”

save this before starting your next app 👀
