I am grateful for the investment we make in the lives of very bright but indigent students.
Kids who never stood a chance now at Ivy Leagues.
Thank you to our donors.
Your gift is rewriting the narrative that folks from developing countries can't compete at the very top.
@tobyasky Arabs and Persians have been able to understand the Nigeria food business. Was in Oxford recently and saw a food store owned by a persian but filled with Nigeria local food ingredients. And they speak basic Yoruba, igbo etc
Two interesting things from this game.
1. I watched Batistituta on an episode of Rio Meets, that celebration was because his son was born on the morning of this matchday. He said 8am specifically. He didn’t go back home, he stayed, played the game, scored, and did that celebration.
2. Beckham’s red card was one of the darkest times of his career. The media blamed him for that loss. They felt if he wasn’t red carded, England would have won. He was booed in every premier league game after this incident. He narrated this in his “Beckham” documentary. You can watch on Netflix.
He also featured Simeone on the documentary. Simeone has been a menace, he said once he felt that little kick from Beckham, he knew it was gonna be a red card (something around this).
Funny enough, Beckham took it well. Manchester United played Inter Milan that season and Beckham specifically requested for Simeone’s jersey. That jersey is framed and sits on Beckham’s wall in his house. Beckham said the jersey reminds him of the abuse he faced that period in his career.
Beautiful football stories mehn. Sorry, I watch loads of podcasts and documentaries, and this is where they come handy, and I reference them as I come across such posts. Apologies for my many stories 😅
Just so you know, Curaçao is part of the Kingdom of Netherlands.
There’s Netherlands, Aruba, Sint Maarten, and Curaçao.
The Dutch monarch is the head of state of Curaçao. As a Curaçao citizen, you can live and work freely in the Netherlands. They also speak Dutch.
Anyways, my guy Tahith will cook at the World Cup. Watch out.
In case you don’t know what’s happening, quick summary.
Embolo has not been allowed to travel to the US, not because of a “visa”, he holds a Swiss passport and does not need a traditional visa for short stays (up to 90 days) in the US. Switzerland is under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).
Instead, a Swiss citizen must obtain ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) approval online before travel. Think of ESTA as basic checks, that can also involve security checks, and this is where the problem is.
Embolo was in a fight with some guys in Basel in 2018, he was convicted of making multiple threats and fined over €100k.
It gets funny, Embolo has actually traveled to the US last year for a friendly against US National Team in June, however, when he came, he already had an appeal ongoing, and that was in court, so I guess that’s why his ESTA was approved, because there was a chance that the Appeal court could overturn the judgement.
The difference now is that the Appeal Court has thrown out his appeal and maintained the judgement he was given initially. They did this in September, last year.
His judgement was in April this year. This means that he has a criminal record. So think of it as USA doing extra checks for a criminal. That’s simply what’s happening.
This is crazy.
The Argentinian National Team airplane does not only have Messi’s number on its tail, but please peep the captain armband😭😭😭. Tell me when you see it.
This is madness😭
Sports is like dopamine, its just crazy.
Yaya Toure said on a recent podcast that he wakes up everyday, feeling useless, he probably does not know what to do with his life, he said his kids ask him why he's not happy.
Bro misses the game, he misses the routine, he misses the dressing rooms, he misses 70,000 screaming his name, he misses the adrenaline rush when he hits a 50-yard pass, its just crazy.
Imagine playing football everyday from like 5 years old till 35 years old, you retire and all of a sudden, you don't know what to do with your life, because you've done nothing else all your life. You suddenly become a stranger on earth.
This is why many of them do their coaching badges before they retire, they go right back into it like they never left, others become pundits, commentators, youth coaches, sports ambassador, they just cannot fucking leave the game, its an addiction.
This is what made them who they are, this is what makes them feel important, they miss the love shown by millions of people around the world, so I understand Serena.
Give credit to those who leave it and never look back. Yeah, give credit, because it's hard.
I’ll tell you something for free.
At the highest level of football, there are certain things you cannot fluke.
Glasner won the Europa League with Frankfurt, this was a time big teams use to drop from UCL into Europa, so he had to face teams like Barcelona on the way. Still, he won the Europa.
He came to Palace, with a small budget compared to the other English teams, he won the FA Cup, the first trophy in Palace’s history, he beat Man City to win it. You can’t fluke that, he’s a winner.
He qualified them to Europa by winning the FA Cup , but they dropped to Conference league because of the multi-club ownership saga with Textor. Despite the setback, he has just won an European trophy for a South London club.
In 2 years, he has changed a club’s history and won 3 trophies for them if we add the community shield. He did this while losing big players, lost his captain January, lost his best player to Arsenal in summer, lost Olise.
This guy is a winner.
Hello @LommelSKOff
I’m Olaogun, a winger also played as a striker from Nigeria. I’ve spent the last 3 years training daily to get one shot at professional football.
I’m not asking for a contract. I’m asking for 7 days on trial to show you what I can do. If I’m not good enough, I’ll walk away with no hard feelings.
I’m fast, direct, and I work harder than anyone on the pitch.
My highlights are here: https://t.co/nD68FCM0BV
Thanks,
Olaogun

@ConfidenceDav1d@grok@Billions1430@Officialchike Solomon started wit wisdom bt ended with foolishness. A man who God gave so much wisdom later bcme so foolish dt he built an altar for Chemosh & Molech. It took an eight year old king Josiah to clean up d mess caused by d so-called wisest king 300 years afta his useless reign.
@dammiedammie35 He who the gods want to destroy, will first make him blind. Despite all warnings, Chike refused counsel, lost wisdom and couldn't sense the danger ahead!
