Ryan Coogler after winning outstanding motion picture at the 2026 NAACP Image Awards for Sinners:
"Our people have been here over four centuries, there's always been a lot of lies told about us. And a lie, no matter how powerful the person saying it is, it's still a lie. And the truth, no matter how little power the person has at saying the truth, it's still the truth. And the truth is y'all are loved, y'all are beautiful, and y'all are powerful and mighty. And bless y'all. Thank y'all so much."
Two teachers hosted a 33-hour Black history lesson this weekend in Philadelphia.
They hope it will be verified as a world record for the longest history lesson.
Dr. Gladys West, the Black mathematician whose brilliance made GPS possible, has passed at 95. Born on a Dinwiddie County farm during the Great Depression, she overcame segregation to become a scientist and map the world—literally. May we never forget her legacy or the path she paved for generations of mathematicians.
January 15, 1968. Daddy celebrating his 39th birthday…the last one he would celebrate before he was assassinated on April 4th of that same year.
Not a long life. But it was a large life.
Thank you for commemorating him today. Let’s move forward to challenge and conquer hate, inhumanity, and injustice, and to, as he said, “make of this old world a new world.”

Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ✊🏾
A leader whose words still move culture, music, and communities. His dream wasn’t just hope, but action: resistance, justice, and collective progress. We remember, reflect, and carry it forward. #MLKDay2026
