This 19th-century British map , Stanford’s Library Map of Asia , clearly labels Kurdistan, spanning Mosul, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk and beyond.

A reminder that the Kurds have long been recognized as the indigenous people of these lands, not just culturally, but geographically.

Despite this, systematic efforts to erase or displace them have succeeded in parts of their homeland. But the map still speaks, Kurdistan was, and remains.
