@ms20040@TheVishalKay@wuhan3700 What is the blame game here? Everyone knows, the system itself has zero respect for any schedule. Trains, govt schemes everything runs delayed. Yes, people individually manage it. Does that mean we accept it as normal? Or does it mean we need to ask for accountability and change?
@ms20040@TheVishalKay@wuhan3700 The rest students you're talking about also don't have a choice. None of them should be forced to leave a day before or arrive 3 hrs before at the centre in this peak summer time.
But they did, not because it "is their own problem" but bcoz the system is hopeless.
@ms20040@TheVishalKay@wuhan3700 Of course, it's a banana republic so administration behaves like they are entitled to their jobs, with no accountability. Can't run buses, trains on time. Can take exams without leaks. Even this re-exam now has several cases of organized fraud, involving fake candidates.
@ms20040@TheVishalKay@wuhan3700 Conducting this exam isn't social service. It is the administration's job. Likewise, running trains, buses timely is also their job. If there is an exam, ensuring students have everything required to reach the centre is also their job.
@Tejas5xe@Tushar15 Allowing latecomers is just an adjustment. Not a solution, because root cause lies somewhere else. China conducts Gaokao at 5x scale, & the system aligns to help reach on time.
About scale, 22L will never arrive late. Why would u lose time yourself? It's a scale of few 1000s.
@TheVishalKay@wuhan3700 Yeah why not, as per your logic? I mean, if someone has got allergies or hasn't been "careful enough" to catch cold - isn't it unfair that he/she distracts someone else? Furthermore, why should any student be allowed to goto toilet as it might distract others in room?(Your logic)
@TheVishalKay@ms20040@wuhan3700 But that doesn't mean IT IS ONLY THEIR FAULT if they fail in doing that. Life is chaotic in India, as the system itself blocks and pulls you back when you need things to move fast.
Of course, with support from family or friends you can manage. But does everyone has that leisure?
@TheVishalKay@ms20040@wuhan3700 Do you even read? What happens if your train gets delayed by 10 hrs? Or worse, gets cancelled. What happens when the bus you were supposed to board was running late?
I know most people would still manage by taking longer buffer, managing stay/commute the best way they can.
@Tejas5xe@Tushar15 True. I never said until the time it gets better, you forget taking measures on your own hands. But that also means, some would fail in doing so. And since it's an exam, which is supposed to help build a student's future, we need to figure out a solution for the same.
@Tejas5xe@Tushar15 That's what I would also suggest. I myself did that years back when I was a student, was never late bcoz I had the support and resources. And most are able to do that, no matter how difficult it gets. That doesn't mean we simply say "sorry" to people who fail in doing this.
@Tejas5xe@Tushar15 Since it's not, you cannot just hide behind rules that you made so that you have to take no accountability. You're correct about strict rules being everywhere. But then, their system is also largely helping them do that. Whereas our system has to conduct the same exam twice.
@Tejas5xe@Tushar15 Well, I've seen a decent amount of world outside India. It is evident that problems like these are handled by the system itself. I can't even imagine comparing the system in US or China with India. It's not about being late, it is about "is the system helping you to be on time".
@Tejas5xe@Tushar15 Punctuality and individual responsibility are needed. And yes, one should definitely try, keep backup plans. But that doesn't mean we ignore the systemic incompetence and just throw the entire responsibility on individuals. If we're doing that, we are at fault for accepting wrong
@ms20040@TheVishalKay@wuhan3700 I thought this was a re exam. No fault?
Whatever? This exam is to help students build their future. It is not for administration to distribute kudos to themselves. It is their job to ensure every such challenge is addressed, no matter the efforts. Especially, when it's a reexam
@ms20040@TheVishalKay@wuhan3700 I have been a student not longtime ago. I was fortunate to have the support system that ensured I was never late, but I am sure not everyone does. Especially when your system itself is designed to not work as per "schedule", there is always a chance.
@Tejas5xe@Tushar15 If existing processes are made to hide incompetence and throw accountibility at students/parents, then that process itself is questionable. If your tech is unreliable, or you fear your own personnel can leak questions once booklet is unsealed - you are incompetent.
@Tejas5xe@Tushar15 Allowing latecomers take this exam in leftover time isn't leniency. It is an acknowledgement that the whole system is broken, and it needs more than just blindly following rules like a bot to cater to everyone. Goal of this exam is to help make future, not break students.
@Tejas5xe@Tushar15 It's not a question of "why reporting timing exists". In any developed country, the system itself is designed to respect timings, and help you do the same. Allowing latecomers use the "remaining time" isn't an "unsolvable logistical challenge".
