I’m so proud of our ENL students that come in at 8am for before school extra support. In our Fundations dictation, we focused on the “ck” digraph which is always at the end of a base word. Some IXL practice too!

2nd graders visit the Bardovan Theater in Poughkeepsie, NY to see Dino Light! For many, it was their first time in such a fancy theater from 1869. We learned new vocabulary like mezzanine and box office.

This is how I introduce a new vocabulary word for the unit:
1. Friendly definition + translation
2. Sentence starter
3. Connecting it to something familiar & low risk
4. Connecting it back to our whole-class text / unit concept
5. Repeat for 2 wks
