I enjoyed a fantastic but very overdue first visit today to #RSPB Greylake reserve in Somerset. Lots of Teal, Wigeon and Lapwing. Great work @Natures_Voice
So sad. As a comms officer for @Natures_Voice working with @BirdLifeEurope I produced an identification toolkit for slender-billed curlew in the hope that someone in a far-flung part of its formerr range would find one. Alas no. What hope for other curlew species @curlewcalls ?
It’s horrible, but true. The ethereal, enigmatic Slender-billed Curlew has been eradicated. We are to blame. My blog below. @CurlewAction @CurlewLIFE https://t.co/c2O6HcIRPl
@sferguk The worst occasion for me was an out of control dog leaping up at me snapping at my throat while walking in the park I am six foot tall but I still to take evasive action. When I called to the owners to call their animal off, all I received was abuse.
The #StateOfClimate in 2023 gave new meaning to the phrase “off the charts” by marking the warmest year and decade on record. Check out the full report: https://t.co/5NVxGLLjL9
@BBCBreakfast White-tailee Eagles have been introduced to both Scotland and England. Occasional individuals from these and other populations from Europe wander across parts of the UK.
@AbiReader@MarkAvery@Minette_Batters I do not disagree with your list of topics where farming has a potential influence on adding societal benefits (although I would add water quality too).
But if these topics were to form the basis of an annual scorecard how many would have an improving trend year on year?
@metofficece@metoffice More mandarins than I have seen before; six drakes bringing a touch of festive colour to a muted early morning Stover. Sadly no pics today must bring the camera more next year.
