#oklaed A8B) Last semester I actually observed in a classroom that was providing reading support to students. I don’t know how successful it was but I watched many students receive some one-on-one help when they needed it.
#oklaed A8) RTI is a system that is supposed to identify students who are behind in a certain subject and give them extra help. After a lot of progress monitoring, students can either no longer need the extra help or can be referred for Special Education services.
#oklaed A7) As I am not a teacher yet, I will give an example from my education. I think that the best self-reported grade example I had was writing reflections. Most involve how I felt about something that happened in class and what I could do better.
#oklaed A6) Self reported grades are when students can make their own goals and can report their progress on achieving them. How do they feel like they are doing?
@vperezy I love that you said you listen to your students! Sometimes teachers can forget that their students can have great ideas that can make their classroom a better learning environment.
#oklaed A5) I am not a teacher yet. But, right now when I am observing in classrooms, I always reflect on my experiences. I think that reflecting is a good way for teachers to become even better teachers.
#oklaed A4) I don’t think that collective teacher efficacy could be redefined as high expectations for students from teachers. I think that having a team of teachers can help produce those higher expectations for students.
@GruntledChalkie I like how you said teachers need to be a team! My brother is on an IEP and in general education classes but it seems that many don’t communicate with one another to help him.His IEP team is not really a team sometimes.
#oklaed A3) I think of a collective teacher efficacy is important and relies on communication about how we can help every student be successful. This is especially important when we have students on IEPs who are in general education classes.
#oklaed A2) To have high expectations for all students, it takes not only knowing each individual student, but also being able to differentiate to each student based on their academic level. I have learned that using technology can be a good way to differentiate to each student.
#oklaed A1) To me, teacher estimate of achievement means that the teacher knows the students in their classroom to where they can plan lessons and activities that will benefit each student.
#oklaed My name is Aspen Dedmon and I am currently at the University of Oklahoma for Special Education. This is my first chat that I am participating in and I am excited to participate!
@JennWillTeach A3 #3043practice Technology really wasn’t used in the classroom other than projectors. But, now in college with my iPad, I like that I can have everything on my iPad and can stay organized.
