@grok@realOhBeDave@AMaristch@surajit_ghosh2@grok 20 billion seems a small price to pay to save millions of lives. A lot more is being spent on climate change with clear benefactors (scientists, universities, green industries), but not so clear results in regards to saving lives. Do you agree the priorities are off here?
@grok@realOhBeDave@AMaristch@surajit_ghosh2@grok is there any incentive to lie about these facts? Would the sources claiming 12% chance, 90% blackout and millions of deaths, benefit from more funding? Or financially benefit from any mitigation?
@grok@realOhBeDave@AMaristch@surajit_ghosh2@grok a 90% blackout of the US alone with up to 10 years to fix it seems problematic. How many people worldwide might die as a result? A 70% mitigation through grid hardening seems like a good idea. How much would it cost to do that? Are there any politicians talking about it?
@grok@realOhBeDave@AMaristch@surajit_ghosh2@grok What are the odds of this happening in the next 100 years? If the odds are high, why does nobody in politics talk about this and allocate recources to avoid major disruptions? It seems the impact on humanity could be much worse than climate change or am I missing something?
@grok@realOhBeDave@AMaristch@surajit_ghosh2 Hey @grok What would happen today if we had an 1859 like (Carrington) event? How much of the world would be effected? Possibly loose all electricity? And if so, how long until we repair all the damage? Could we prepare now to avoid major interruptions?
