Happy birthday to the Chairman of the Kwara PDP, Hon. Issa Adamu Bawa.

I have known Bawa for many years, and in that time, I have come to know him as a man with a deep commitment to our political family and, more importantly, to the people of Kwara State. He is one of those people who understands that leadership is about accepting responsibility and doing the work that the moment demands.

Since becoming Chairman, he has brought new energy to our great party, working patiently to bring our members closer together. At this important moment in the life of our party, that willingness to do the difficult work of building consensus matters greatly.

Bawa, I thank you for your service and for the commitment you continue to bring to the task before us. I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) blesses your new age with good health, greater wisdom and renewed strength.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

To occupy the seat of the Chief Justice is to hold one of the most solitary and demanding responsibilities in our nation. It is a role that demands silence and stoicism, often amid fierce public scrutiny. Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad answered this call and led the apex court through a defined and complex era in our judicial history.

I recall, in particular, the restraint and discipline with which he carried himself on the bench, even when matters of intense national interest came before the Supreme Court. 

This is why the news of his demise is a sobering loss. Nigeria has lost a senior jurist who carried the weight and burden of that office with dignity.

As the nation mourns his passing, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the people and Government of Bauchi State, and the entire Nigerian Judiciary.

May Almighty Allah (SWT) grant him a place amongst the righteous ones in Aljannah Firdaus. Ameen.

For me, Armed Forces Remembrance Day is not just another day on the calendar—it's a solemn reminder of duty, unity, and the unyielding strength of our brave men and women in uniform.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of meeting with veterans and their families, and I have come to understand that their sacrifices go far beyond the battlefield. Their service is a powerful reminder that the freedoms that we enjoy today did not come free—they were paid for with courage, sacrifice, and love of country.

So today, as we remember those who have fallen, let us also honour those who are left behind—the mothers and fathers, wives and husbands, sons and daughters—who carry the heavy burden of loss, but continue to move forward with resilience.

To all the fallen heroes—and to those who continue to stand watch—we say, “Thank you.” Your dedication to Nigeria is something we can never fully repay, but we will never forget.

As our dear nation marks 64 years of independence, we draw strength from the enduring words: “Though tribe and tongue may differ, in brotherhood we stand.” These powerful words continue to inspire and unite us as we celebrate the courage, resilience, and unity that define Nigerians across all walks of life.

In the face of adversity, it is this spirit of brotherhood that fuels our determination to ensure that the sacrifices of our forebears are not in vain. Our path as a nation has been fraught with trials, yet the indomitable Nigerian spirit remains unbroken.

As we look to the future with optimism, let us continue to pray for better days, knowing that with collective effort, perseverance, and faith, the future holds boundless promise.

Today, let us also offer our heartfelt prayers for the brave men and women in uniform who stand on the frontlines, defending our freedom and safeguarding our peace. May the Almighty continue to bless them with strength, protection, and courage as they serve our great nation with honour.
