45% of major biopharma companies' data sciences leaders surveyed by BCG said they've seen "demonstrated proof-of- value" using generative AI for molecule design. 50% said they've started to use it routinely. (Surveyed incl AZ, GILD, PFE NVS, MRK, LLY, SNY, ABBV, Roche, Bayer). 5% had said it was in early pilots for them. The paper said "molecule design can involve a range of GenAI algorithms including generative adversarial networks, recurrent neural networks, variational autoencoders, flow-based models, & others." 14 data sciences leaders co-authored a paper to discuss how generative AI is reshaping drug R&D.
