Podcast (Part 1): Providing an update on the disbursement of the @nacsouthafrica's R300 million allocation of the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP) this morning on Power FM.
Will you #RememberOurLegends? Will you remember their names - Lindiwe Ndlovu, Sam Phillips? Because our hearts are heavy for their loss. And we are outraged that @ParliamentofRSA still blocks their right to earn #fairroyalties so their families can be taken care of. @SAGActors
We support the Restaurant, Events and Tourism Industries country wide in asking for answers. Why were we not consulted and then given less than 24 hour warning when changing business hours, occupancy and the ban on sale of alcohol? We now see daily closures in all sectors.
Last year we saw South Africans pleading for their jobs and for Restaurants to remain open with safety protocols. Now in 2021 we see culinary experiences, beverage providers and hospitality closures daily. We had NO WARNING, where is the planning and WHERE is the consultation?
The scenario below is happening across Tourism, Events and the Cultural and Creative Sector. The appointed leaders are not aware of the circumstances or the real need of the sectors they are leading. We, the sectors, need to implement our strategies.
So many experiences in South Africa are lost forever due to a lack of engagement, lack early warning of closures and lack of proper consultation with sectors by the players in the Tourism, Events and Restaurant Industries. It is time for a strategy and proper planning.
The impact this will have on the livelihoods of our crew and performers is devastating. What makes it worse is the fact that the neither the 1st nor 2nd wave of relief funding from DSAC are finalized. How will a second spike be handled?

All events in KwaZulu-Natal have been cancelled until further notice to prevent a resurgence of COVID-19. Government said though they are aware of the socio-economic effects, the province can not afford to host gatherings that might become super spreaders. https://t.co/hvxcWYUmJK
If only there were passionate people in the department responsible for the Arts and Culture Sector of our country with clear and efficient communication, administration and care, South Africa would be a different place.

There are tens of thousand of youth in Tourism in South Africa that have experienced an abrupt halt to their future in our Industry. We need stimulus measures that address this as well as a clear plan for opening.
