Despite @samhsagov working diligently to help educate on opioid use disorder, we are still experiencing an opioid crisis in our country. Endo Pharmaceuticals, it's time to include opioid use disorder education and naloxone with each prescription to help our crisis. @ENDP#nurs638
My favorite reading was by @pugleesa et al. "What Does Health Justice Look Like for People Returning from Incarceration". Authors explore how the lack of healthcare and social support upon release from prison can perpetuate recidivism and worsen health disparities #nurs638
My favorite reading for this semester was Dysfunctional Politics in the US: Origins & Consequences by James Pfiffner. I really appreciate this perspective & agree that American politics is dysfunctional due to the inability to come together and agree on legislature. #nurs638
Reading "Getting Wrecked" by, Kimberly Sue speaks to the social disparities women face related to opioid treatment during incarceration. It opened my mind to realizing a change is needed focusing on opioid use disorder treatment. #nurs638
#NURS638 helped me realize that health policy truly affects so many aspects of our lives. Thanks @Nurs621 for changing my perspective and causing me to think differently when watching or reading different news articles.
Lack of medical care in rural communities negatively impacts many Americans. The growing NP workforce is one solution to this problem, but will require buy in from stakeholders including NP programs, legislators and health administrators @ahahospitals@ANANursingWorld#nurs638
NNU's survey from 2021 to 2022 showed a 20.2% increase in unsafe staffing. With moral distress, high turnover rates, and workplace violence on the rise, how can we push bill S.1567 through faster to protect nurses and decrease patient mortality? @RNAction@SenatorSherrod#nurs638
October is National Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Month. We all need to do our part to focus on the opioid epidemic and prevent opioid use disorder in future generations. @samhsagov@AddictionPolicy#nurs638
@POTUS The branches of government need to work collaboratively to fight the opioid crisis. The judicial system is aiming to provide individualized opioid use treatment. Treatments need to be available to all, regardless of insurance or payment status to achieve health equity. #nurs638
