@JamieNa68172219 I thought there was no way to keep up with 55 rules but a lot of them build on each other or are apart of our every day and what we already want for our students #readessential55
@JamieNa68172219 Ron mentions his rules being a tool for preparing students for whatever world they land in after school and I believe that is just as important as any content we teach. Students obviously need the content but I believe they need to know how to conduct themselves in any situation
@JamieNa68172219 I have heard of schools doing detention in the mornings or using ILT/study hall as detention. I also think having a lunch detention could work because that is a time students really enjoy and want to have. #readessential55
@JamieNa68172219 of lifting each other up, would really change the trajectory and teach students that it doesn't matter what you're wearing or how "popular" you are, everyone deserves to be celebrated ##readessential55
@JamieNa68172219 I want to first apologize, I was out of town and told I would have internet but it was terrible so I am late to respond and so sorry! I think Ron hit the nail on the head talking about the influence that social media has on students and their confidence and having an atmosphere o
@mssackstein @GillenwaterMeg@nicolep1811@tomwhitby I couldn't agree more. The second students decide something is worth their time, they will be happy to do it, but until then, it's going to be pulling teeth. I also think that we, as teachers, need to be excited even when we don't find something relevant. Lead by example. #edchat
@TinaciousH@tomwhitby It's absurd and also why, I believe, there are a lot of teachers leaving, which is not a favorable outcome, obviously. lol. #edchat
@nicolep1811 @mssackstein @tomwhitby Yes! My entire algebra class revolves around what concepts and topics are most important to know for the test, not for the good of the students, which is so backwards! ahh! #edchat
@nicolep1811@tomwhitby I really love this idea because it opens the door to students forming their own opinions and us, as educators, not shoving ours in their faces #edchat
