I have way more of them than I do of USB-C since it appeared a good 4-5 yrs before USB-C became standard.

If Apple changed format just 4 years after their Lightning change people would have complained

On the laptops they had MagSafe which didn’t do data and so wasn’t suitable for the ipod/iPhone. they changed that one time as as well
