An active front is moving southwards across central and northern parts of Northland tonight, and onto Auckland and Coromandel Peninsula later tonight and overnight, and across Bay of Plenty/Rotorua in the early morning bringing heavy rain. There is a moderate risk of SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS with localised downpours of 25 to 40 mm/h possible.
Our meteorologists are monitoring the situation closely. Note, expect rain and thunderstorms to ease over Northland from the north tonight.

A male Offender armed with a long weapon was last located in Sector 100.
Police are in attendance and are moving through the sector to locate the offender.
