A3: we all have an open snack table where the Ss can eat whenever they are hungry. This practice reflective their needs and allows them to be independent. #yorkukaq#yorkukaq2#yorkukaqs
A2: we use this time as a time to do restorative practices. We invite those who want to come to our morning meeting to come, while others continue to engage in activities. #yorkukaq#yorkukaq2#yorkukaqs
Q1: Do you include the Ss in reflection of documentation and allow them into become partners in deciding and negotiating next steps for learning? #yorkukaq2
We recently started using lattice with clothes pins. We display Ss work, photos and quotes. It is easy to change and we it gives us a lot more variety of what is displayed. #yorkukaq2
We also change our environment around to suit the needs or our Ss. We are constantly trying to find a flow that works best for everyone. It also stays exciting for our Ss.
A5: We plan by observing the Ss interests, their strengths and their weaknesses. We provided uniterupted exploration time & we work authentically with small groups or one on one. This is where the magic happens and we can make ties to the curriculum. #yorkukaq2
@DianaHatzis We tried a binder but we found it easier to use the documentation we have on Seesaw. It also is proof to families that the pictures we send are not just of the Ss "playing" the COL outlines the learning that is happening in all the photos.
We typically do not have a set system. We document many aspects of our environment and use the documentation that tells a story of what is happening with in the activity or inquiry for others. We use authentic drawing, writing and conversations with the Ss as well. #yorkukaq2
A3: We allow the children to use iPads to take photos and document the things that they feel important to them. We have worked with a few of the older students use Seesaw on their own. #yorkukaq2
A2: We make it a habit to ensure each child has at least one photo posted to Seesaw daily. We also make sure that each student is represented throughout the room too. #yorkukaq2
@Veronic99931642 I love this response!! It totally nails why we document. I think that throughout the day so many little pockets of learning are being displayed and it is important to go back and reflect, so we can prepare for the next day. What needs to be added, changed, extended etc...
A1: We use documentation as a form of assessment because the child's learning, thinking and actions are there in a photo, with a quote and typically we include some form of anecdotal notes
#yorkukaq2
A6: to be honest this makes me think of all that is happening with ON GOV it makes we wonder if they value our younger citizens. If we are willing to observe, listen and ask purposeful questions we will see all the authentic learning that is happening. #yorkukaq2
A4: I think this would be beneficial, as sometimes we think the Ss will do something completely different with materials and we donโt understand why they are using them the way they are. It will help to strengthen our understanding. It also allows Ss to be lead learner #yorkukaq2
A3: I try to reflect daily on the documentation that I have taken. In terms of working with my partner, we are discussing how to best fit this in to our daily routine. It is tough without planning time. #yorkukaq2
@Veronic99931642 A2: we have our documentation visible in our classroom. Currently, it is myself, my partner and the Ss that are using it to reflect and share with one another. We have recently been discussing how we could broaden our audience. #yorkukaq2
