Thanks for this Hunter. Pain is the touchstone for spiritual growth. Addiction itself can be a gift if it leads us to the revelation only available through total surrender. Recovery opens a portal through which we see God with a precision ,detail and certainty only made possible by the precedent of extreme suffering and the devastating defeat of self will. We cant live off the laurels of that initial spiritual awakening. We need to renew it every day through humility and a life of service to others.
