Bonus picture! Detailed images near the center of the nebula reveal "cometary knots," so called because of their resemblance to comets. Each knot, not incl. the tail, is about the size of a solar system, and is comprised of cold molecular gas surrounded by a shell of ionized gas.

There are three major types of galaxies: spiral, elliptical, and irregular. Unlike spirals and ellipticals, irregulars don’t have a distinct shape or pattern - no bulge, no spiral arms, just chaos. This is likely a result of gravitational interactions with other galaxies.
