@mshelenashcroft @gepugg Coming to Switzerland! The distance between people and the time shrinking in distance (due to the train system) will reward you a calming atmosphere, which you might need.
I'm alive today because a stranger once generously left me their heart valve. The Organ & Tissue Authority (created from the 2020 Summit) has done great work doubling the donation rate. But Covid has hit hard. Please consider registering at https://t.co/KoUuV6MXGH #DonateLifeWeek
I was pleased to outline Managed Strategic Competition to a Chinese audience at a @Tsinghua_Uni online forum this month. I’ve spoken a lot in the US but my book #TheAvoidableWar is not sold in China. So I’m glad to see the speech picked up by local media. https://t.co/RFIQ1v3rrY
ETH astrophysicists Haiyang Wang, Sascha Quanz and Fabian Seidler as well as Paolo Sossi at the Department of Earth Sciences, reported a hypothetical rocky planet in the habitable zone of the α Centauri A/B system (an Earth-like planet).

We do not yet know whether the Sun-like stars closest to us, the α Centauri A/B binary, harbour an Earth-like planet. But thanks to modelling work by @ETH_en researchers we now have a good sense of what such a planet would look like, should it exist. 🧵

Ending the week with a talk by @Alice_Centauri on her @NatureAstronomy paper https://t.co/4hW7zP7St5
where they found methanol around a warm young star which was likely inherited from the interstellar cloud. Complex organic molecules likely exist in more systems than thought! 🌟

@RanaArafat12@AcademicChatter I have been in such a situation for many times. I found if I put away writing for 2-3 days and start a topic-focused READING (with thinking) I will go through the writing block more naturally and quickly. At least, you'll have your minds refreshed or even retrained.
@rach_scottie@AcademicChatter The speed of baby development will be most likely faster than your paper publications. If someone would reserve time for the sake of travelling/publication potential, you would most likely end up nothing.
"I'm not a white woman, I'm a faded black person. My people moved far from the equator and that's the only reason my skin is lighter. There's only one race, the human race and the human race began with black women" - A lesson from anti-racism activist Jane Elliott 👏
@rachelohry@bethpenrose@AcademicChatter I was advised by my previous supervisor that it's almost illegal to let others read a manuscript that is still under your review. But not sure if this could be generalised to different scenarios/fields. Just be cautious!
How Long Was Venus Habitable? Up to 3 billion years! This time is enough for life to start, become complex, and maybe even intelligent, then all hell broke loose 😬 - Eos https://t.co/XjX05cHrMK
