Two neighbors on my street had not spoken in eleven years.
A fence dispute.
Someone said, "Those two need to bury the hatchet."

I agreed.
I brought a hatchet.
And a shovel.

I knocked on both doors.
"Saturday. 10 AM. The burial."
Both men came.
I think they were too confused to refuse.

I dug the hole between their yards, on the property line.
The exact line.
I had measured.
I made them hold the hatchet together, one hand each, over the hole.
"Say the words," I said.
"What words?" said one.
"Whatever words end eleven years," I said.

They looked at each other.
One said, "Your tree DID drop leaves on my side."
The other said, "Your dog DID bark at my truck."
Then they both started laughing.
They could not stop.
They dropped the hatchet in the hole while laughing.

We buried it.
I poured tea on the ground.
A warrior's seal.

Now there is a small stone by the hole.
It says HATCHET. 2026.
They built it together.
They have barbecues now.
Together. On the line.

The hatchet is still buried.
So is the feud.

I check the stone sometimes.
It is holding.

Let’s address more issues shall we? Since we are all here.

Here’s my thoughts although they might seem a bit more unhinged.

First Cohh, now Dan. Yea, That’s all I need to see @Twitch . You may think that who you coat ride is your foundation but it’s not. When OG streamers of Twitch call for new leadership you are cooked. Not only do I agree with a change in leadership but I think a complete sell is required & to people who will put streamers, the community & website first.

If the original Twitch staff plus new staff and the OG streamers on twitch were interested in making a brand new website I would be so on board.

Twitch offers no strategies to onboard average people to make new Twitch accounts. You do not talk about what twitch is as a whole, what it provides for its streamers, and viewers the products and potential that it has based on those factors, the longevity and success of the company, as being a solid place for interaction and entertainment.

You continue to take a 50/50 subsplit when 70/30 is the standard. On top of that what do you actually do to earn that 50% when streamers are the ones putting in 100% of the work you offer zero exposure and visibility. This problem stems from the bigger issue that I mentioned above about how you have no plan or strategy to onboard average people to make new Twitch accounts.

You claim you are unprofitable yet offer silent sweetheart deals to keep streamers that you like.

You reward fame so you can leech off it instead of empowering streamers with good content who are hard working. You then bend a knee to those that eventually become bigger than the name Twitch.

You do not “Unite Twitch” either, you divide people into “groups”. Each month we’re celebrating some thing else or some new group it’s ridiculous.

You play favorites more than you reply to people on social media as if you guys are too good to reply to everybody.

You have a two tiered TOS punishment system based. The TOS should be applied equally and fairly across the board for everybody, no matter who they are or how big or small their channel is.

You only listen to the community when something goes viral & may cause a PR nightmare; when you should be listening to what the community wants and prioritize their needs and concerns. This includes products that they request on the website.

Your staff workers are scared to speak up about what’s done behind closed doors & only spill the tea when they are let go instead of the leadership being completely transparent.

You are profit first, streamer last. When the streamers are literally the whole reason your website even exists. We are not Amazons piggy bank.

Also, the website was built by the community yet you do not reach out to them to see if they would be interested in working there or at least be given credit for their ideas. If their ideas are so good to the point where you use them, then those should be the people who are helping build the products and features that you implement on Twitch.

Lastly, onboarding Hollywood will be rejected by all other streamers, and will be the downfall of twitch. Do not go down this path. People like to watch normal every day genuine average streamers that can relate to and interact with them. This couldn’t be further from the truth when you try to bring Hollywood on board as they are completely disconnected from the streaming world and twitch culture.
