Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
Except.. no they don't. At 2222 UTC the Chinese Space Station, whose lwer inclination orbit is a better match to the track of the sublunar point on the Earth, was at 419656km from Artemis 2, an even larger distance. It was over New Orleans at the time.
Welcome home Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy! 🫶
The Artemis II astronauts have splashed down at 8:07pm ET (0007 UTC April 11), bringing their historic 10-day mission around the Moon to an end.
A 2.5-second rocket flight that heralded decades of discovery in space!
Today marks 100 years since the first successful test of a liquid-fueled rocket. Robert H. Goddard's achievement would have appeared unimpressive by most measures: His rocket flew just 41 feet in the air, landing in a nearby cabbage patch. Liquid-propelled rocketry has been the backbone of spaceflight ever since.

Good overview of the landing. We nominally target a few hundred feet away from Jacklyn to avoid a severe impact if engines fail to start or start slowly. We’ll incrementally reduce that conservatism over time. We are all excited and grateful for yesterday. Amazing performance by the team! Gradatim Ferociter.
What if you could not only watch a generated video, but explore it too? 🌐
Genie 3 is our groundbreaking world model that creates interactive, playable environments from a single text prompt.
From photorealistic landscapes to fantasy realms, the possibilities are endless. 🧵
Watch Firefly land on the Moon! After identifying surface hazards and selecting a safe landing site, #BlueGhost landed directly over the target in Mare Crisium. A historic moment on March 2 we'll never forget. We have Moon dust on our boots! #BGM1
We nailed it.
During XB-1’s second supersonic flight, we partnered with @NASA to take this Schlieren image of XB-1 pushing through the air at supersonic speeds. Here’s the shot, captured by NASA teams on the ground. It documents the changing air density around XB-1 and the resulting shock wave—making the invisible visible.
3, 2, 1… Boom
The countdown is on. XB-1 will break the sound barrier on its next test flight.
We’re targeting no earlier than Jan. 28, 2025, at 6:45am PST/9:45am EST/2:45pm GMT for our most ambitious flight yet.*
Check the countdown clock and watch the @Starlink livestream on https://t.co/hEg3y88nb2.
*Flight date & time may change for mission safety or weather considerations.
Criticism of the regulations and using it as an excuse is nonsense here. The Wimbledon 2019 final lasted 4 hours and 57 minutes. Djokovic won the 5th set 13-12 and won Wimbledon 2019. They didn't make a pact to share the trophy or 'keep losing one point each until they give up'
Starship’s fifth flight test was a seminal moment in iterating towards a fully and rapidly reusable launch system.
Next up: the sixth flight test of Starship is targeted to launch as early as Monday, November 18 → https://t.co/oIFc3u9laE
One year after Shockwave and 6 months after Aftershock I, we have successfully flown Aftershock II to space.
More details to come soon as we process the data!
