βIβm not too fond of most therapists,β he exhales with a small nod to acknowledge her words, opening the door that led back up to the bookstore.
βBut, I can try it. Possibly.β
she is following him, close begind -- not interested in being locked up again, even outside of his cage.
"it is. it took years of... i guess you could call it therapy. it was talking with a therapist, after all."
"there's a comfort in thinking what you're doing is good," she says, eyeing him. "but there's freedom in acknowledging who you really are. in my experience, that freedom is worth it. it unburdens you from guilt."
Jingling of keys that were inserted into the door, a click and turn. Pushed open, a heavy exhale as the bag slid to the ground with a thud.
Exhaustion quickly turned to alertness as he perceived the state of the apartment.
A soft knock on the door frame before a movement of leaning, a smile across the face as the aroma lingered about the kitchen.
β Smells lovely as always. β A comment.
A tilt of the head towards her, eyes softening in consideration.
βPerhaps it is similar for me.. though, I still wish for it to be noble enough, even if by this point it no longer is.β
He glanced at the ground, quiet in his thoughts.
cue a little hum.
"we often think we have noble intentions, but they rarely remain so. i used to think i was doing something good by killing... now i realize it's more about satiating my own feelings than avenging others."
β..If I feel there is a threat theyβll run or do other damage, or I feel they need to stay safe.β
Joe murmurs out, gaze lingering for a moment longer at the cage.
He slid the keys back into his pocket, giving a small shrug with his shoulders.
βItβs plexiglassβ typically used to hold fish in an aquarium. Provides useful for books.. and humans too.β
she stands perfectly still as he unlocks the cage, and moves slowly when she does stroll out. it's only once she passes the door that a breath she wasn't aware she'd been holding is released.
"thank you, joe."
still examining her place of imprisonment.
"this is impressive."
βGood, Iβm glad you.. understand that,β the keys jingled as he pulled them from his pocket. A move to unlock the cage and let her out. He was taking a wary risk with this, but he wanted to give her the benefit and trust her word.
"i understand," sam says, nodding. it makes sense he would be cautious of her, given what she'd attempted to do. but the huntress tries not to kill those outside of her preferred targets -- and he'd confiscated her knife anyway.
