This is a religion that started with one man
A man that was pelted with stones in Taif
A man that was fought by his own kin
A man that was forced to leave his city
A man that was insulted all because he said “worship Allah alone”
Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam ❤️
Look at us today
The same Makkah that Bilal ibn Rabah (ra) was dragged on the streets for saying Allah is One.
The same Ka’abah that Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (ra) was beaten for reciting the Qur’an publicly.
It’s the same place that Muslims today stand and call out:
“Labbayka Allahumma labbayk, labbayka la sharika laka labbayk, innal hamda wannimatah laka wal-mulk, la sharika lak.”
“Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Surely, all praise, blessings, and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner.”
It is the same Ka’abah that today the Qur’an is being recited back to back on one of the most advanced and sophisticated sound systems in the world by the likes of:
Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz Al-Sudais
Sheikh Dr. Maher Ibn Hamad Al-Muaiqly
Sheikh Dr. Bandar Ibn Abdul Aziz Balilah
Sheikh Yasser Al-Dosari
Alhamdulillah for the gift of ISLAM. 🙏
MY EXPERIENCE REVIEWING SOME CVs: WHAT I THINK YOU SHOULD REMEMBER TO CAPTURE
We all know that depending on the role you're applying, of course matching your "numerous skills", your vitae should be in line with what role, riding on what skills or collection of skills yiu have, that can help you deliver that role.
I reviewed some CVs for some technical roles in a multinational company as one of the hiring managers. We had the CVs of the candidates before time, a week before the date, and we were expected to review the CVs as a non-living person before we meet the living. So yes, it is possible that you will be seen as a potential employee by just reviewing your CV before you even appear in a physical or virtual interview.
To begin, let me suggest that having an official photo portrait on your CV works for so many people & organisations. It can be that first impression of boldness, confidence and charisma which would be some unspoken skills themselves. Again, it depends on your location, the organisation & other factors. Personally, all my CVs have an official photo on them. And I can boldly say that I have received invitations for interviews in almost all the jobs I have applied, Alhamdulillah!
Secondly, do not forget to indicate whether you're a male or female. Especially due to the gender equity and equality considerations by many organizations, some roles are preferred for female. Do not just assume that because your name is BLESSING then everyone would know you're a female. We have men that are called Blessing as well. So, please indicate your gender.
Now, assuming you are applying for the role of a petroleum engineer, and you have no experience at all in the oil & gas Industry, though you read petroleum engineering. Also, assuming you are just a fresh graduate with no experience yet, post NYSC. Your best bet is to leverage on the skills you have. It is very wrong to earn a degree, finish NYSC, and start applying for jobs without you have some skills. Your first class or 2.1 can only open a door for you to an invitation. Chief, you will still be asked questions in the interview and top of them YOUR SKILLS. What softwares have you learnt in petroleum engineering? Modelling & simulation softwares. Softwares like ECLIPSE, CMG, PROSPER, PETREL, MBAL, PIPESIM, DRILLBENCH, LANDMARK. WELLCAT, KAPPA SAPHIR etc! At least any three (3) should be good enough.
Indicate some key courses you have taken as an undergraduate & your grade in them. And be ready to answer correctly questions raised on those courses.
I will discuss more another time, on this and then for intermediate professionals and expectations as an experienced hire.
