🔥🔥🔥Read now our latest article on emerging concepts of the intricate interactions between the body and the germline influencing aging and genetic inheritance. The Somatic Impact on Inheritance and the Germline Control of the Soma | Annual Reviews - https://t.co/WqCNIjGADF
🚨🚨Mark your calendars for G-JAM2025 meeting organised be me and Sandro Cellerino. We will discuss human aging, longevity interventions, molecular and systems aging, comparative biology of aging, sex-specific aspects of aging and more. Looking forward!

@MaxUnfried@amos_schorr Indeed, it is quite common. But in the European system the PI factor comes later. First, PhDs apply for specific grad schools (aging in this case) and later face the reality. But even in the first step, candidates end up applying without prior motivation for aging science.
Unpopular opinion - It’s hard to find a cancer biologist who doesn’t believe their work can lead to a solution for cancer—clear goal. Yet, I’ve spoken to young PhD students in aging research who don’t even believe we can significantly improve lifespan, let alone tackle aging.
@DomenicoFraia First year PhDs have to have a motivation for bigger picture when starting their science career, otherwise I have no clue how they get motivated to wake up each day and go to lab, work for 13+ hour doing repetitive experiments and still be excited about science.
@DomenicoFraia I feel like sometimes risky hypothesis/projects backed with huge motivation in science drive bigger innovation, than having a solid hypothesis but no aspiration for bigger picture.
@MaxUnfried@amos_schorr I agree Max. We need highly motivated individuals especially in research institutions focusing on aging. With a much clearer goal than “researching anything that might be connected to aging by the end of PhD thesis”
@MariaErmolaev13 I wander what can be done?
1. Filter only adventurous and motivated students?
2. Perpetuate curiosity and interest towards the topic during the studies?
@MariaErmolaev13 Exactly! That was my main frustration Maria. Hence, the comparison with cancer researchers, where they have clear idea, goal, aspiration.
@amos_schorr We know a lot more about aging and the science is progressing. Once cancer research was also a “black box”. The skepticism indeed is a big part of research but so is ambition. Starting research without aspirations, can and will limit the progress before it even begins.
Day 4 of #ARDD2024, and my mind's buzzing from all the groundbreaking science we've covered! From dietary mimetics to drug repurposing, it's been amazing. But here's the twist: what if you could enhance health without diets, drugs, or effort? (You can!) Come check out poster 107!
Indeed, it is so unfortunate we couldn’t have a small reunion here at #ARDD2024 Maria.
I will be there and would be happy to answer any questions on how to replace diet with light 🎉 find me at poster number 107 on Thursday poster session or around the conference!
Sadly, I can't join @ARDD_Meeting this year. But if you want to learn about unlocking personalised metabolic health without diet, meds or exercise, please find @AsyaScienceAge there. Some details of our innovative tech can be found below, but Asya has all of the important updates
I and Pablo (new postdoc in our lab) created thinking periods in between work (3.5 minutes) where we hypothesise how to solve aging and the sand-clock is the allegory we start with.
Super stimulating discussions already!
@longevi_tea They shout “Germany is for Germans, immigrants out”. This chanting became viral after bunch of rich Germans were singing it in the German island of Sylt and showing Nazi symbols (video became viral recently).
Following the #sylt scandal…
The video was taken few minutes ago from my apartment balcony in Cologne.
I have lived in Germany for almost 8 years.
Tonight first time ever I felt so unsafe. The hatred and ignorance have no place in any society. #staysafe
Popular diet practiced for weight loss may cause accelerated aging: study suggests that ketogenic diet promotes cellular senescence in multiple organs by stabilizing p53 in an AMPK dependent manner. https://t.co/n24aQ8NMjb
Absolutely thrilled to be part of the birthday of an amazing woman turning 100. It’s an absolute bliss to see someone so energetic and turning 100. Longevity is possible, let’s work for it and aim towards living even longer!
