I have always opined that one of the reasons Africa is not grounded in science and technology is because these courses are not taught in native languages.

For you to understand science to a point where you can create with it, you have to understand the concepts beyond definition.

When you try to translate a language, there are some losses in the original context. These losses sometimes carry the main information that drives home the message.

A native English speaker might have encountered the word “speed” , “velocity”, “acceleration” in their day to day communication before they see it in a physics class. But for a non native speaker. His first encounter of such words might be in physics class.

There has to be a way to teach science to African students who are not native speakers of English language. A way to make science concepts appear close to them without the first translations that happens in the brain.
