मी गेल्या बारा वर्षांपासून भारतीय जनता पक्षाचा कार्यकर्ता म्हणून काम करतो आहे. पक्षाने दिलेले अनेक आदेश मी डोळे झाकून पाळत आलेलो आहे. आमच्या अहिल्यानगर जिल्ह्यात अनेक सामाजिक कार्यक्रम मी पक्षाच्या बॅनरखाली घेतले आहेत. स्वतःच्या खिशातले पैसे खर्चून मी पक्षासाठी स्वत्व अर्पण केलं आहे. आपण चौकशी करू शकता. एवढी वर्षे एकाही निवडणूकीसाठी तिकिट मिळण्याची मी अपेक्षा ठेवली नाही. सतत अविरतपणे मी पक्षासाठी झोकून दिलं.

माझा पुतण्या सुदर्शन घोरपडे ह्यावर्षी बारावीला होता. नीट पेपर फुटल्यानंतर त्याने खचून न जाता पुन्हा पेपर देण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. त्याची मोठी बहीण देवयानी घोरपडे दिल्लीत एमबीबीएस डिग्रीच्या शेवटच्या वर्षाला आहे. तिचा आदर्श सुदर्शनसमोर होता. नीटची दुसऱ्यांदा घेतलेली परीक्षा सुदर्शनला नीट देता नाही. परीक्षा झाल्यानंतर मात्र तो एकटाएकटा राहू लागला. अर्थात त्याच्या आईवडिलांनी त्याला चांगलं सांभाळून घेतलं. पण पेपरफुटीचा त्याच्या मनावर परिणाम झाला. आता पुण्यातील चांगल्या मानसोपचारतज्ज्ञाकडून तो उपचार घेत आहे. ह्या सगळ्याचा फॅमिलीवर परिणाम झाला. कुटुंबाचंच मानसिक स्वास्थ्य ढासळलं.

सांगण्याचा मुद्दा हा, काल झालेल्या आंदोलनात सुदर्शनची बहीण देवयानी उपस्थित होती. तिच्या दोन मैत्रिणींसोबत वैद्यकीय प्रथमोपचारपेटी सोबत घेऊन ती आंदोलनस्थळी गेली होती. पोलिसांनी लाठीचार्ज केल्यानंतर तिच्या डॉक्टर मैत्रिणीच्या खांद्यावर जबर मार बसला आहे. स्वतः देवयानीचा पूर्ण चेहरा सुजला आहे. अश्रूधुराची नळकांडी अगदी जवळ फुटल्यामुळे. तिला डाव्या डोळ्यात इन्फेक्शन होऊन दिसणं बंद झालं आहे. ही बातमी कळताच आम्ही दिल्लीकडे धाव घेतली. पण हे सुदर्शनला कळू दिलं नाही. त्याला नातेवाईकांकडे सुखरूप ठेवलं आहे. त्याला सोशल मीडिया, मोबाईल व टीव्हीपासून दूर ठेवलं आहे.

माझ्या पक्षाने 2014 साली प्रॉमिस केलेला भारत हा नव्हता. मी काय तोंड घेऊन माझ्या पुतण्यापुतणीसमोर जाऊ शकतो? भाजपचा शहरप्रमुख स्वतःला अभिमानाने म्हणवून घेतो, पण माझ्या पुढच्या पिढीला मी काय भविष्य देत आहे. मन व्यथित झालं आहे.

माझ्या सद्सद्विवेकबुद्धीवर विश्वास ठेवत मी भारतीय जनता पक्षाच्या सर्व पदांचा आणि प्राथमिक सदस्यत्वाचा राजीनामा देत आहे.

1-7 July was a week I'll remember for a long time.

By profession.. I'm an Advocate who specialises in Real Estate.

Weather has always been my passion. But this week both worlds peaked at the same time.

Friday & Saturday were brutal. I had slept for just 50 minutes in an entire 24 hour period, didn't get one full hour. The rest was office work, deal closures, radar monitoring, media calls, forecasts and nonstop updates to family, clients, relatives, friends & on Twitter. Tried catching up on 4-5 hours of sleep the next day after barely sleeping the previous night. Woke up to missed calls and instantly wished I'd been awake to track the situation.

Alarms at 1:30 AM, 3:30 AM and 5:30 AM became routine. I woke up on purpose because it's July anything can happen to Mumbai overnight. There was no schedule. Only responsibility.

Many people see the forecasts. Very few see what happens behind them.

Every monsoon teaches something. This one taught me how much responsibility comes with people's trust.

I don't forecast because it's my profession. I do it because when Mumbai comes to a standstill, someone has to stay awake, track the weather and keep people informed throughout the night.

Back to being a lawyer every morning. Back to being a weatherman every night.

No complaints. Just responsibility.

The egg is 75% water and the chana is nearly fully dry, so you are really comparing 13g of dry egg matter with about 47g of dry chana.

This is also why the egg is 70 kcal and the chana is closer to 300 kcal for the same serving.

And on top of that, protein quality of egg is much better. To be clear, eat both, and if one has personal religious reasons to avoid eggs, do that, but this comparison is silly.

Is the #ArabianSea branch of #Monsoon stalling for over 10 days a normal occurence or linked to #ElNino?

Short answer - Normal

The Monsoon usually requires 2-3 surges to cover the entire country. Usually the first surge brings the monsoon till coastal Maharashtra covering most of Peninsular Bharat. The next surge takes it to most of North India and sometimes a third surge is needed to cover western Rajasthan.

The location of the NLM during Monsoon stall after first surge varies year on year from Konkan to south Gujarat, and so does stall duration. Both show no significant correlation to ENSO state.

For example -

2002 (Strong El Nino) : Monsoon stalled at Dahanu for 9 days (12-20 Jun)

2006 (Moderate El Nino) : Monsoon stalled at Porbandar for 23 days (2-24 Jun)

2009 (Moderate El Nino) : Monsoon stalled at Ratnagiri for 14 days (7-20 Jun)

2015 (Super El Nino) : Monsoon stalled at Ratnagiri for 6 days (6-11 Jun) and again at Surat for 9 days (14-22 Jun)

2018 (Neutral ENSO) : Monsoon stalled at Mumbai for 14 days (9-22 Jun)

2021 (Strong La Nina) : Monsoon stalled at Surat for 7 days (11-17 Jun)

2023 (Strong El Nino) : Monsoon stalled at Sindhudurg for 13 days (11-23 Jun)

2025 (Weak La Nina) : Monsoon stalled at Dahanu for 15 days (1-15 Jun)

2026 (Strong El Nino) : Monsoon stalled at Velas for 12 days so far (10-21 Jun)

While ECMWF and GFS Models are Indicating Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall from South Konkan Coast across Goa till Coastal Karnataka over the Next 8 Days📈, IMD'S GFS as well as BharatFS Models are yet to pick up Substantial Rainfall Estimates and still show Poor Rainfall Activity over the aforementioned regions till 26th Atleast📉

It's gonna be A/B Testing as to which Model comes out to be on the Top...

1/2🚨Air India 171 crash ✈️🔥 New simulator data seems to indicate "crew innocence" in one of India's deadliest aviation disasters - the AI 171 crash, which killed 260 people.

Fresh tests on a Boeing 787 Level D full‑flight simulator, by the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP), which represents roughly 6,000 pilots, seem to indicate that the fuel switches were in RUN for the first 11 seconds of the flight -- for the engine behaviour described in AAIB's preliminary report.

If correct, neither Capt Sumeet Sabharwal nor First Officer Clive Kunder touched the fuel switches till both engines had flamed out. And they seem to have touched the switches only to attempt engine restart by recycling fuel-switches; which forms part of their "to-do" memory items in a dual-engine failure.

The SIM data shows this by challenging the relight sequence implied in the AAIB report.

Across the test runs, when the simulator reaches the points corresponding to the crew's restart commands (08:08:52 and 08:08:56 UTC in the AAIB timeline), N2 is already well below minimum idle and fuel flow is effectively zero.

In other words, by the time the crew commanded the restart, the engines were already too slow for a successful crew-commanded relight.

The data instead points to any genuine relight behaviour occurring earlier — within seconds of fuel interruption, while the fuel switches were still in RUN and the engine computer (FADEC) still had sufficient core speed and electrical power available to attempt recovery.

That changes the implied sequence from:

Capt Sumeet moves fuel switches to CUTOFF ➜ engines fail ➜ engines go below minimum idle ➜ First Officer Clive moves fuel switches back to RUN

to:

Fuel switches in RUN ➜ Engine failure ➜ FADEC attempts recovery ➜ engines decay below minimum idle at 08:08:47 UTC ➜ Fuel switches in RUN till 08:08:50 UTC ➜ Pilots detect loss of thrust ➜ Capt Sumeet takes controls, FO Clive attempts fuel-switch recycle

For engine 1 ➜ FO Clive moves fuel switch 1 from RUN to CUTOFF at 08:08:50 UTC ➜ Moves it back from CUTOFF to RUN at 08:08:52 UTC ➜ FADEC attempts relight fails for engine 1 ➜ Aborts, insufficient power source

For engine 2 ➜ FO Clive moves fuel switch 2 from RUN to CUTOFF at 08:08:54 UTC ➜ Moves it back from CUTOFF to RUN at 08:08:56 UTC ➜ FADEC does not attempt relight for engine 2 ➜ FADEC does not permit dual engine start in insufficient power configuration.
