Half of MLGW customers have been impacted by rolling blackouts.
TVA said there's a low probability of rolling blackouts over the rest of the holiday weekend, but that's subject to change at any time — and MLGW won’t have much notice.

TVA's Emergency Load Curtailment has de-escalated, and rolling outages will cease at 10:30. Non-essential industrial load will be curtailed voluntarily. We ask that everyone do what they can to conserve energy during these extreme temperatures.
Blackouts are lasting longer than expected, and in areas that weren't expecting it at all.
That's because MLGW has to reduce its load by 10%, instead of 5%.

Kinda surreal to see my @AustinChronicle cover story on the state of COVID-19 in Austin on this morning's @TODAYshow. Sadly, that headline has only become more distressing: State data posted today shows *six* ICU beds available for 2.3 million Central Texans.
This will be the worst surge yet for COVID-19. As we run out of personnel and resources, hospital systems around Texas will need to implement crisis care to triage who gets lifesaving care and who does not. To avoid:
1. Get Vaccinated
2. Wear a mask

Kudos to the Travis County Commissioners Court for hosting the first #pride flag-raising ceremony in Travis County, with speakers @GlenMaxey and @earthtokb, today.
File this under things that irk me in journalism covering LGBTQIA issues/communities: Pronouns are not merely a matter of "preference," as this headline suggests. A person's pronouns are their ... pronouns, full stop. https://t.co/27DrP7Bv6W

I see @LoewyLawFirm deleted his racist dog whistle tweet about a sitting City Council Member. I figured that would happen once he was called on his racism, but sorry man, that’s not how the internet works. Here’s what he said, for posterity.
Moving averages for COVID cases, hospitalizations, ICU admissions in ATX have doubled over past month. Health officials say a second surge could be avoided if residents are vigilant about social distancing, mask wearing https://t.co/Q0nBDHWuBB via @austinchronicle
