A 1ª Divisão Criminal da Promotoria do Distrito Oeste de Seul denunciou, em liberdade, no dia 12 do mês passado, a jornalista de sobrenome Choi, que havia publicado a matéria sobre as suspeitas de prostituição envolvendo Ju Haknyeon, sob acusação de difamação conforme a Lei da Rede de Informação e Comunicações.

A polícia recebeu a queixa de Ju Haknyeon em junho do ano passado e iniciou a investigação, encaminhando o caso ao Ministério Público em março deste ano.

A jornalista Choi teria declarado durante o interrogatório policial que "não sabia que as suspeitas de prostituição eram falsas".

O Ministério Público concluiu que, considerando as declarações da jornalista Choi e de representantes da agência One Hundred, bem como as gravações das conversas entre Ju Haknyeon e a agência, há elementos suficientes para reconhecer a acusação de difamação por divulgação de fato falso.

A jornalista Choi baseou a reportagem em "múltiplos profissionais do meio artístico" como fundamento para as suspeitas de prostituição, mas, durante a investigação policial, não conseguiu apresentar provas objetivas além de rumores.

No artigo, ela também escreveu que "Ju Haknyeon, após a agência apresentar evidências concretas, teria acabado por admitir o fato da prostituição", mas a investigação com funcionários da One Hundred mostrou que isso não era verdade.
