This platform was never simply going to break down. If there was uncertainty about that in Nov./Dec., it’s clear enough now.
Equally clear is that what it goes on as is an increasingly pernicious corporate actor. It won’t just fail, but better if it did.

@gideonstrauss This may be well known to you, but there are fediverse instances run as and by cooperatives. Something other than platform, of course. In any case: https://t.co/p7yKn4Y5Bh is a place to start.
Just sharing some thoughts because i felt a gutpunch seeing so many stories that pin the blame on the fucked up comics business when its a bit myopic. We live in a hostile society and its not designed for something as cool as comics. But i do like drawing them.
NWU stands in solidarity with the WGA strike! Writers from Hollywood to Buzzfeed and VICE, are facing increased insecurity, precariousness, and a lowering of our standard of living.

@ddayen@TheProspect That you let a phrase like ‘Tucker’s willingness to challenge and mock ruling elites’ proceed at all, that you okayed the populist-with-certain-failings portrayal at all, betrays truly bad judgment. The writers are in error, yes. But theirs isn’t the great failure here.
FSP members organized with other @NYTimes contributors to write this open letter (so far signed by 200+ contributors and 2000 other media workers and Times readers) condemning the paper’s unethical, biased coverage of trans and non-binary people. https://t.co/ORpvaheJTn
Haven’t yet pulled the plug, obviously, but Musk’s action against the Linette Lopez account in particular has me preparing to cease use of this site permanently.
We need to stop operating as consumers-by-default and shift instead to being citizens first.
We're standing in solidarity with @NYTimesGuild as freelancers by pledging to honor the picket line if the union walks out on Thursday. Join us!

Heartland Alliance's CFO's *raise* last year was more than the average Heartland union worker's *total* salary. Call President Evelyn Diaz at 312-833-2832 to demand a #FairContractNow for workers who risked their lives during the pandemic. Is there #NoHeartAtHeartland?
