Visuals from Sonapur : Zubeen Garg Samadhi
LoP @RahulGandhi on arriving at Zubeen's samadhi, people in large number have gathered to receive him.

LoP, Lok Sabha, @RahulGandhi ji, will arrive in Guwahati tomorrow to pay homage at the samadhi of Zubeen Garg and offer condolences to his bereaved family at his residence.
Ahead of his visit, Assam Congress President @GauravGogoiAsm , along with party colleagues, visited the samadhi at Sonapur today.
The passing of Zubeen Garg is a terrible tragedy. His voice defined a generation, and his talent was truly unmatched.
He overcame personal tragedies to reshape the landscape of Assamese music. His perseverance and courage have left an enduring mark.
He will live on in our hearts and minds forever.
I look forward to welcoming Shri @kharge ji and Shri @RahulGandhi ji to Assam tomorrow.
Their visit is a powerful show of solidarity with the people of Assam. It also reaffirms the Congress party’s shared commitment to justice, harmony, and inclusive progress for all. In these challenging times, their presence will bring strength to every worker, volunteer, and citizen who dreams of a better future.
On 19th September 2016, after an eviction drive in Kaziranga, the BJP government widely propagated that those evicted were Bangladeshis. The narrative pushed at the time was that the BJP government had saved the Assamese community by evicting Bangladeshis from Kaziranga.
But official government documents say otherwise compensation of ₹14 crore, 71 lakh, 72 thousand, 723 was later provided to those evicted.
This raises serious questions:
If those evicted were truly Bangladeshis, why were they given compensation?
If they weren’t Bangladeshis, why were they defamed with false accusations?
Was it all done for electoral calculations?
And now, the biggest question:
What stands on that evicted land today?
Barak Valley is facing a complete collapse of connectivity - broken roads, disrupted rail lines, and unaffordable flights. I’ve written to the Prime Minister urging urgent and accountable action. The region needs resilient road infrastructure, affordable air travel, and a long-term revival plan. Over 40 lakh citizens are cut off and left behind. This demands immediate national attention.
Today Himanta Biswa Sarma is busy defending people who have looted money through government schemes meant for cattle, are involved in coal and supari syndicate and built mansions bigger than Delhi sheesh mahal. His certificate of clean chit has zero value. People of Assam will oust the Sardar of loot and corruption, and his gang.
Assam PCC, President @GauravGogoiAsm visited Padmashree Rongbong Terang, literary icon and author of Rangmilir Hanhi, at his Karbi Anglong residence joined by fellow Padmashree awardee and writer Dhaneswar Engti.
The @himantabiswa govt is trying to hand over 18,000 acres of land from 23 villages in Borjan, Karbi Anglong to corporates in the name of a solar project.
Adani-Ambani now have their eyes on the land of Assam’s indigenous people.
Congress will not let the BJP displace Bodo, Karbi, Rabha, or Dimasa communities.

Assault on journalist Madhurya Saikia, allegedly by BJP backed goons is barbaric and alarming.
Will the BJP govt act as swiftly as it did against Congress workers accused of throwing a plastic bottle?
"PM Modi once said, “Na khaunga, na khane dunga.”
But under CM @himantabiswa in Assam, it’s just the opposite. " – @GauravGogoiAsm, President, Assam PCC
