These proposals introduce innovative new techniques to help detect and predict patients at higher risk of developing headache after lumbar puncture utilizing new technology and diagnostic methods

يا صاحِبَ المِعطفِ الأبيضِ كن صاحب قلبٍ عطوفٍ أشفقَ من قلب عصفورة على فرخها ذي الجناحِ المكسور

اعلمْ – رعاكَ اللهُ – أن مهنتكَ ليست صَنعةَ دواءٍ يُقَدَّرُ بالغرامات، ولا فحصًا يُقاسُ بالميليمترات، بل هي رسالةٌ بين جنبيها من الحكمة ما يُعجز الفلاسفة العقلاء، ومن الرحمة ما يُذهل رهبان الليل الصالحين الأتقياء.

فلا يكن لسانُك إذا خاطبتَ المريضَ كالسيفِ القاطع، ولا حتى كالحلوى المذابة، ولكنْ كما النورِ في آخر النفق، يَهدي ولا يُبهر، يُضيءُ ولا يُحرق.

إن من أدقِّ مواطنِ الحكمةِ وأشدِّها خطرًا، أن تُمسك الميزانَ بين كفَّيْك، تَزِنُ فيه الكلمةَ الصادقة، والكلمةَ الطيِّبة؛ بين التبصيرِ بحقيقةِ الداءِ، والتطمينِ بما تبقّى من رجاءٍ في الشفاء.

قلْ له الحقيقةَ، نعم، ولكن قلها كما ينصح الوالدُ لولده: “يا بنيّ، الطريقُ صعبٌ، لكن خطاكَ ثابتةٌ، والنهاياتُ بيدِ مَنْ بيده كلُّ أمرٍ وأمل.”
ولا تَنسَ أن في بعضِ الكلماتِ حياةً، وفي بعضها خنجرًا، وإن كانت كلها من جنسِ الحروف.

فإذا جلس المريضُ أمامك، يُلقي إليك بألمه، فلا تردّه بمجردِ تقريرٍ جامد، بل اقصُصْ عليه خبرَ علّةٍ جاءك مثلها، وقلبٍ نجا منها، أو روح ٍاشتدت ثم رقّت، وقل له: “إن لكل ليلٍ فجرًا، وإن لكل غيمةٍ شمسًا، فلا تيأس من رحمة الله.”

تلك هي الحكمةُ، وتلك هي الأمانة. فإن صدقتَ ولم تقسُ، وبشّرتَ ولم تكذب، كنتَ من أولي الفضل، وكان لك في قلب مريضك دعوةٌ لا تُرد.

فليكن قلبُك مرآةَ صدقٍ، ولسانُك نهرَ رجاء، ويدُك ميزانَ عدلٍ بين العلمِ والرحمة، فإنك لا تداوي الجسدَ وحده، بل تلمسُ الأرواحَ، وتنقشُ على القلوبِ أثرًا لا يزول.
