a 19 year old dalit student walking out of a counselling room and taking such a drastic step as committing suicide is considered normal in this country. on top of that, people blame reservations for even giving him a seat in their institution full of modern day nazis like them

visited Ashoka University recently to talk abt 'Meet the Savarnas'

Interestingly when originally invited by Savitri Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (SAPSC), permission was "denied". Kudos to SAPSC, students & English dept faculty who rallied & made it happen!

Glad to see faculty pushing back, univs need to reclaim space for critical discourse. For all it's faults, glad to see some spine from my 'favourite' Sonepat university 🫰🏽

A student's life is worth so little in this country.

Students are forced to stay in precarious conditions. Packed in buildings which don't follow any safety guidelines. No regulations of any kind support their lives.

All because one of the country's most prestigious and largest universities cannot provide hostels.

SatyaNiketan is the result of this.

why are IITs & higher edu centres in India such toxic hells for students? ans lies in caste anthropology of knowledge production- in the "gurukul" model, the guru is always right & pedagogy is always 'pareeksha'

it reduces every college to a boot camp where the best student is one who survives. admin takes pride in high failure rates, proof that their rigor is high-- instead of evidence of bad pedagogy

till admins stop seeing (esp quota) students as lazy, undeserving bodies tht need "discipline" & "strictness", overall culture for (even for savarn) students/staff will remain toxic, with no facilitation nor help... & dropouts, trauma & dead bodies will keep piling up.

no lessons are ever learnt, no change is visible.

It was such a peaceful movement, feel so sad that it had to take a violent turn. My heart goes out to the students and their families who were hurt. Paper leak is a very serious issue, and I am glad to know n see that the kids of our country have come together for a better educational system, and their parents supported them.

I truly appreciate the stand they have taken, showing dedication, sincerity, and keenness to study hard n make their future and a greater, educated India. This andolan, this protest, is the right way to go abt it, n the students have done this peacefully. So courageous and brave. Driven and motivated towards education, this generation will make India proud.

This issue is between the students and the educational system, it should not be hijacked politically, the credit should only go to the students of our country, and I am sure the government will also give them all the support n make it a stronger educational system. It’s a win-win situation. Hoping n praying for a positive decision. God bless all of you who wanna be educated.

Education should be the next trend and fashion, and should get trendier n more fashionable yr by yr, itna k bahar se log come to India to study and India becomes an educational hub.
