After a few centuries, gold coins started to be used and remained as a currency system for long.

1600 to late 2000 saw the paper currency rise, widespread popularity and ending up being used all around the world.

Late 2000 till 2014 saw the rise of digital currencies.

In 2014 onward, the cryptocurrencies started gaining momentum.
