In 1066 the French invaded Orthodox England.
In 1793 their blasphemous revolutionaries defiled Christian altars.
Unless the nations repent, & turn back to God, we see the cost of abandoning Christ.
🔸 “Be kinder than necessary because everyone is fighting their war or battle and suffering losses. Live simply, love generously, care deeply for the needs of your neighbour, speak softly... And leave the rest to the Lord. It is not faith, nor dogmatics, nor mysticism, nor ascetism, nor fasting, nor long prayers, but love that makes one a true Christian.” 🔸

@WilliamDowsing@FrLillie I agree they are Christ-like, your argument is a strawman. Your issue is you don't understand Christianity enough to comprehend what I or Fr.Lillie is arguing.
@WilliamDowsing@FrLillie Let's try this instead - you can't use materialism to claim anything related to morality, therefore you need the Church to even understand this issue to begin with.
@WilliamDowsing@FrLillie This isn't an appropriate application at the hands of secular governance, hence why it being carried out under this presupposition does not make it Christ-like or merciful.
We cannot be too gentle, too kind. Shun even to appear harsh in your treatment of each other. Joy, radiant joy, streams from the face of one who gives and kindles joy in the heart of one who receives. All condemnation is from the devil. Never condemn each other, not even those whom you catch committing an evil deed. We condemn others only because we shun knowing ourselves. When we gaze at our own failings, we see such a morass of filth that nothing in another can equal it. That is why we turn away, and make much of the faults of others. Keep away from the spilling of speech. Instead of condemning others, strive to reach inner peace. Keep silent, refrain from judgement. This will raise you above the deadly arrows of slander, insult, outrage, and will shield your glowing hearts against the evil that creeps around.
St. Seraphim of Sarov
@ant_rants@LyingWrongAgain You are attempting to justify them by saying they are self evident and appealing to pragmatism, whilst also saying that justification is not necessary because they are self-evident. Every time you continue to make claims about the external world, you fall into contradiction
"Prayer is the place of refuge for every worry, a foundation for cheerfulness, a source of constant happiness, a protection against sadness." - St John Chrysostom
@ant_rants@LyingWrongAgain So the proposition that predicates ethics are relative experientialism is not actually objective, so everything you say is merely speculation; even the language you use in your sentences, there is no certainty that they are not completely nonsensical. This is why telos is needed
@ant_rants@LyingWrongAgain Is the claim: "ethics are experienced as opinions about actions" - is that statement objectively true?
If so, as a finite individual how do you have access to universal states of affairs?
@ant_rants@LyingWrongAgain Because atheists/skeptics don't realise that ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology are all necessary when grounding a worldview - if you say that your ethics are subjective, then by extension "truth" will also be subjective.
@darwintojesus If man came forth from other life, how would he bare the image of God? We would be a product of death and decay, therefore, we would not be made for eternity; but to return back to our "creator", which would be death.
