Takeaway:
Sometimes a simple feature with simple wording is far more useful than a sophisticated one.
My approach now:
Understand the user → Build → Put it in front of people → See what doesn't work → Fix it → Repeat.
Building isn't just writing code.
I thought I had built something great.
When I first demoed it to a customer, I was expecting:
“Wow!”
Instead, they said:
“Ye itna confusing kyun hai?” 😅(Why is this so confusing?)
Lesson:
People have their own way of working, expectations, and different levels of comfort with technology.
A feature that sounds great on paper can be useless if the person using it doesn't understand it.
I kept doing this everywhere — shopping sites, news, social media, Google searches… basically any webpage with a $ price.
Open another tab → check USD/INR → calculate → come back.
So I built NumTrans to handle the conversion right on the page.
I've been on X since 2010, but I've barely posted here.
Going to change that.
I'm building small, practical products and sharing the process along the way.
Starting with NumTrans — a tiny Chrome extension that converts $ prices to ₹ right on the page. 🇮🇳
