@Wangenstein This isn't true at all unfortunately. Border entry has always been subject to different law. Once a request for entry has been made you are subject to search without a warrant or probable cause. While he's wasn't officially in the US, he had made a request for entry to the US.

@wfle81 Starvation isn't but malnutrition very much is. True starvation is incredibly rare but chronic malnutrition is very common among poor Americans particularly children. About 1 in 5 children in the USA do not have reliable access to adequate food.

@TwinkTheory The fact that she's a practicing surgeon is wild to me given that one of her books has a doctor over prescribing opiods to avoid having a video of the dr slashing tires released. Only one of those would get a med licence yanked. Medical board does not care about property damage.

@Beefshaver It's a ridiculous idea. International students already pay a monthly fee for MSP. Also, a significant amount of healthcare workers (particularly doctors and nurses) are on work permits. They're suggesting that people should have to pay an extra fee for care they provide.

@Fyrbirdz NSERC can be taken to other countries under certain conditions such as those who did a PhD in Canada can take NSERC postdoc funding to the US, but it still only funds citizens and PR. Canada isn't funding non-citizens/PR. It's a narrow scope

@crustyshaklefrd The point isn't that this wasn't done before. The point is that specifically people that try to claim a monopoly on Christianity and use it as a basis for their political views are actively committing one of the biggest sins in Christianity. Context matters.
