Have to choose a source control respository, maybe Mercurial. Don't want to use Subversion again, merging is just too painful.

Settled on a name for the web mapping application: AtlasMapper. It will be based on OpenLayers, GeoExt, ExtJS and a java server.

One thing I realised creating an open source project (compared with in-house software) is that your project name must work globally.

Have to pick a source repo, a repo host, logo, site hosting, documentation process, all before any real work can be done.

Just gone through 95 names for the two new projects, checking availability of domain names and popularity on google.

The second project will use the web map project to create a community mapping site where people can upload their data. Names?

Just been looking at the http://geonode.org project. Very exciting. Very similar to work we will be doing. We will adopt a lot of their work
