With this Perez Hilton self-harm video circulating, I as a therapist wanted to give y’all a brief explanation on that topic:
Self-injury like cutting is non-suicidal self-injury. The intent is to find some level of emotional regulation for overwhelming feelings, interrupt numbness or dissociation, or regain a sense of self-control.
A normal reaction to that is “why would anyone livestream that”?
Well, that’s the point. That person is not thinking logically. They are in crisis. They both want help, and want to help their self. They know that once that video is seen, someone will come help them, and they will get some relief. It’s a cry for help.
If you find yourself or someone you know in this level of crisis, you can call the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (Call or text 998), or you can contact a trusted therapist or crisis service. Prioritize physical safety and connection with people who can help.
If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite ,,, I’ll host them in Las Vegas. Do some nice dinners and shows and good times. I’m sure I can get a hotel and airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real for real.
Mark Kelly: “The President has gone too far. Everybody needs to wake up. The occupant of the Oval Office is ignorant to the Constitution and has no regard for the rule of law. President Trump has crossed a line. This time it’s not gonna work. I will not be intimidated by this President. I am not gonna be silenced by this President.”

Introverts live in a world inside their mind that most people never get to see. They feel everything. The joy, the hurt, the disappointment, the tiny shifts in someone’s voice. And because they’re so good at understanding everyone else, people assume they’re fine.
But introverts hide their pain the same way they hide their brilliance. Softly, behind a calm face and a gentle “I’m okay.”
They don’t fall apart loudly. They withdraw. They overthink. They disappear into their room, into music, into silence, trying to process emotions they don’t have the words for.
People call them mysterious, difficult, quiet, crazy, hard to read, but truth is: they’ve just learned to protect their peace in a world that handles gentle hearts too roughly.
And if you ever love an introvert, love them patiently. Love them softly. Love them without noise. Because beneath their quiet lies a depth only a few ever get to see.
