I am an average sized woman. I only do behavior modification with children smaller than me. Nothing physical, either, beyond body blocking for safety. Restraint is an absolute last resort.

Today, my 16-year-old and 18-year-old were viciously arguing, and it was totally my 16-year-old's fault. He was not listening at all. He was all limbic and effeminate in his conduct and was just saying responses for the sake of fighting.

I tried to intervene as a gentleman, but he then tried to shout over me.

He had lost his mind, so I helped him find it.

Realizing what I was facing, I walked over, gripped him around his waist, lifted him, and turned him upside down so his 6-foot, muscled frame was left kicking about with his feet in the sky while he was hoisted on against my shoulder.

I then rehearsed to him and his siblings the story of Hercules and Antaeus, relating that if a person will not be subdued (even when wrong) as long as he feels he has a superior position, you must separate him from what he thinks is his power to ensure submission.

Just to finish out the Antaeus experience, I gave the boy an ANACONDA SQUEEEEZE, and then put him upright on his feet, where he stumbled and fell on his bum due to blood rush.

He was then calm and admitted he was just being a contentious jerk and apologized. Honor and humility are traits of patriarchy, so I was glad to see it.

My latest discovery is that prayer works. I do my nightly ones and if I don’t my brain feels itchy. Nightly prayers help me dump all the anxiety and worry and not obsess. Once I find myself returning to a thought I think “oh, I don’t have to worry anymore, I gave that up to God.”

Me a year ago would have thought it was stupid but me a year ago was a bit stupider than I am now.
