I’ll never understand how the Academy works. How can a movie be the best in cinematography, music score, screenwriting and even nab an acting award for the lead (who played a dual role), but NOT be good enough to win Best Picture?

Rachel Morrison, the first woman to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Cinematography, and Autumn Durald Arkapaw, the first to win, were honoured for films directed by Black filmmakers.

Morrison did the cinematography for Dee Rees’ ‘Mudbound’ and worked with Coogler!
