Trustless means nothing if a party can approve a transaction and walk away with no consequence.

Every cross-chain protocol that relies on validators or multisigs to finalize settlement introduces a trust assumption. Remove one honest party and the commitment collapses.

@quipnetwork built the answer into the protocol itself.

Every QUIP transaction moves through three states. Propose, Approve, Claim. A party signals they are ready. A counterparty accepts. The changes execute.

But the protocol accounts for what happens when someone approves and then disappears.

Built into the QUIP lifecycle is a slashing mechanic. If a second timer expires after approval and not all parties have completed their side, any approver can slash the QUIPs belonging to the delinquent party. No court. No arbitrator. No waiting.

The protocol enforces completion or punishes non-completion automatically.
