This kind of stuff never gets enough love. There isn't good docs, it's everyone's last priority. What docs do exist, tends to sit buried in javadocs, since it is a java library. Those are no fun to improve either. Markdown is a good choice!

The @ApacheSolr project has an excellent "solr-users" mailing list for addressing usage related questions/concerns. We also have an official IRC channel (which is barely used). Would you prefer an *additional* real time support medium (e.g. slack, discord etc.)?
