The core question here is: Why treat voting differently from other everyday activities that already require ID?
We need government-issued ID to:
• Fly domestically (TSA requires it for adults),
• Drive a car (driver’s license),
• Buy alcohol or cigarettes (age verification),
• Open a bank account, rent an apartment, or start many jobs.
These aren’t seen as unreasonable barriers—they’re standard ways to verify identity and prevent abuse. If the concern is truly about helping the poor, marginalized, or those without easy access to ID, why focus only on voting? Shouldn’t we make IDs free, convenient, and accessible for all these activities if barriers are the real issue?
Voting is a fundamental right, but so is the right to bear arms under the Second Amendment. If we’re serious about removing barriers to constitutional rights, that principle should apply consistently—not just to one while ignoring the other. (And let’s be honest: governments with majority support have started wars and caused far more harm than any individual voter fraud ever has.)
The argument that strict ID rules are just about enabling cheating doesn’t hold up when you look at parallels like college exams: You show student ID to prevent someone else from taking your test for you. That’s not a “barrier”—it’s basic integrity to stop fraud.
In short, this isn’t about disenfranchising anyone—it’s about applying the same common-sense verification we already accept everywhere else in life. If fraud isn’t widespread (and evidence shows in-person impersonation is extremely rare), great—but requiring ID builds trust without inventing problems that don’t exist.
The comments about “to many bullets” or “they kept shooting when he was down”. People, if you’re still able to move then you’re still a threat and training dictates you don’t stop until the threat is neutralized. Personally, I don’t know why the cop on the left didn’t just shoot him in the face?
@RealJamesWoods Yes! Let’s give more power to the California Government because they’re doing such a good job with the power they already have.
Government creates dependence not independence because if people were independent there would be no need for government.
@MallymkunMousey Want fair and honest elections in California? Sign the petition for voter ID. This is good for both parties as it will curb cheating and make Californians votes matter again.
@MactelecomN I wish I could say this surprises me. In my city the police have a program where they want citizens with cameras to share our feeds with them which has its own problems but it’s better than no surveillance at all. Time for all sane Canadians to band together and fight back.
Sorry but I call bullshit. It all comes down to choices. As a millennial myself who grew up with nothing but free school lunches and started working at 15 1/2. Saved everything I made. After high school I used my savings and bought a used truck which I used to get me and my tools to job sites hours from my home. Paid for night classes to get an AS degree. Didn’t date until late 20’s cause girls = money. Didn’t party or go out to eat. Started investing the money I made and bought my first house at 28 after renting and living in a one bedroom apartment with two other roommates. I now have a high paying job money in multiple retirement accounts, toys, a wife and two kids.
I look at my kids now and one is a saver, the other is always asking for money. I taught them the value of hard work and money. They make their own choices, one makes coffee at home for 50 cents the other goes to Starbucks and pays $6 dollars for someone else to make it for them and turns around and says they are broke. The world doesn’t change or give two shits about you. You can’t control it but you can control yourself and your choices.
Not condoning this act on either side but I believe some states protect your right to defend your property. Not sure if this falls under this law. I also think that people are under the mindset (brainwashed) that they can do whatever they want without repercussions. This is not the case in this instance.
@stclairashley@elonmusk@LauraLoomer@Tesla What kid needs 500k a year? My parents were murdered when I was 8 years old and I was placed in the States care for a dollar a day until age 18. I had everything taking from me and was given nothing. I think I turned out okay. Children need love and support not 500k.
